Shooting Star

About this game

        My project for DATT3300-Game Mechanics at York University. Shooting Star is a single-player FPS game. The player will explore the church of Perinthia. The game challenges the player to use the character’s unique abilities cleverly. And combine it with aiming skills to defeat all the enemies. This game is still under development to a more complete level.

Control

        Mouse and Keyboard.

        Move the mouse to look around. Left-click/hold to fire. Right-click to shoot a star that can be interacted with the ability Star Force.

        W, A, S and D to move. Space to jump. Press Q to use the ability Starry Sight, and E to use the ability Star Force. 

        Starry Sight: Enzo activates the power of his eyes. Temporarily costs 20 hp while activating, the player can see enemies' constellations (weak points) and "invisible objects." During the activation time, the player also moves faster and jumps higher. 

        Star Force: Aim at the stars you shoot (mouse right-click), immediately teleport yourself to that location after you press E. 

Story

        Perinthia is a beautiful and tranquil city. Every corner of the city is built precisely based on the constellations. However, the citizens and creatures here all have monstrous looks because of the impact of constellations. The astronomers who rule this city won’t either admit their calculations were wrong or reveal that it is the order of gods that creates the monsters.

        The player will act as Enzo, a normal citizen and believer, until one day, his inner constellation's power awakes. The power gives him a pair of special eyes. He can see the constellations that build everyone. And there are wrong calculations everywhere. He realizes the astronomers are using the citizens to test and create fierce monsters to defend their hegemony…
